28 November 2024 at 22:20

SOEs(State-Owned Enterprises) of the P.R.C.

28 November 2024 at 17:35

Definition of SOEs

In narrow terms, SOEs are state-owned assets performed the investor’s responsibilities and supervised by the State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC). According the list released by the SASAC, there are 97 SOEs showed at the link.

In broad terms, more than 97 SOEs are included, including Enterprises managed by other institutions directly under the State Council(List of Central Financial Enterprises): mostly, they’re financial SOEs regulated by the Ministry of Finance(MOF), Enterprises operated by the military or armed police forces, such as those in the defense industry, and other enterprises where the central government holds the majority of investment or control.

Entities Capable of Carrying Out Duties and Obligations of the Representative of the state as the Owner or Shareholder or Investor of SOEs

Before diving into this, one thing should be made clear that shares & ownerships and regulatory authority or operation entities are different topics. If we don’t recognize this, you may see many entities showing in discussing SOEs. Specifically, in this subtopic, we focus on entities capable of holding ownerships of SOEs.

The State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) is a special commission of the People’s Republic of China, directly under the State Council. It was founded in 2003 through the consolidation of various other industry-specific ministries. SASAC is responsible for managing state-owned enterprises (SOEs), including appointing top executives and approving any mergers or sales of stock or assets, as well as drafting laws related to SOEs.

State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council

Considering the politics of the P.R.C. and operations of SOEs in reality, the SASAC of the State Council and the SASAC of the local government should be separately discussed in this topic. Within the pyramid structure, the local government level of SASACs are, indeed, responsible for the central government level, whereas, local governments have more self-decision rights in economic and public affairs, aligned with the political framework of the P.R.C. proposed by Economist Chenggang Xu, called regionally decentralized authoritarianism (RDA) regime. This is one of the foundation of rapid economic development of the P.R.C. in the recent past decades, because this provides competition ground between local governments. Without competition, it’s easily assumed inefficient operation of local governments and economy. More than that, the words “央企”(Centrally Owned SOEs) and ”国企”(State-Owned Enterprises) also prove the essence of division of central-level and local-level, as ”国企”(State-Owned Enterprises) can be centrally owned or locally owned or Central-Local Mixed

AspectSASAC (of the Local Government) SASAC (of the State Council) 地方国资委MOF (Ministry of Finance) 国务院财政部
Scope of OversightLocal SOEs owned and controlled by municipal or provincial governments.Central SOEs (nationally strategic industries and enterprises).Primarily financial SOEs and state-owned financial institutions.
Type of Enterprises ManagedLocal infrastructure, utilities, public services, and regional development enterprises.Enterprises in energy, transportation, telecommunications, defense, and other key sectors of the national economy.Banks, insurance companies, asset management firms, and sovereign wealth funds.

2. Manage regional SOEs to promote local economic development.
1. Represent the central government as the owner of central SOEs.
2. Ensure national-level SOEs operate efficiently and align with state economic strategies.
1. Act as the owner of state financial institutions.
2. Oversee the financial performance and ensure capital efficiency in financial SOEs.
Ownership MechanismDirect ownership of local SOEs via local government-controlled entities or SASACs.Direct ownership of central SOEs under the supervision of SASAC of the State Council.Ownership through intermediaries like China Investment Corporation (CIC) and Central Huijin Investment Ltd.
Examples of SOEs– Shanghai Electric Group (Shanghai SASAC).  – Guizhou Moutai (Guizhou SASAC).– China Mobile, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), State Grid Corporation of China.– Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), China Life Insurance, China Investment Corporation (CIC).
Industry FocusLocal economic development and infrastructure projects.National strategic industries critical to economic security and growth.Financial sector, including banks, insurance, and capital markets.
Revenue SourceDividends from local SOEs, local taxation revenues.Dividends from central SOEs, profits from national-level operations.Dividends from financial SOEs, investment returns from sovereign wealth funds.
Role in SOE ReformImplement regional SOE reforms to align with local needs.Drive national-level SOE reforms, especially in areas like market competition and mixed-ownership reforms.Oversee financial reforms and ensure SOEs in the financial sector align with national economic strategies.
Connection to State BudgetTypically not directly tied to the national budget but may receive transfers from the central government.A portion of central SOE profits goes into the national budget through the SASAC.State financial SOEs contribute directly to the national budget, and MOF allocates funds for national financial policies.

Take ICBC, the largest bank in terms of market value as an example.

Its ownership composition is as follows:

  • Central Huijin Investment Ltd.: As of 2023, Central Huijin, a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Investment Corporation (CIC), holds approximately 34.71% of ICBC’s shares. Central Huijin acts on behalf of the state to invest in key financial enterprises.
  • Ministry of Finance (MOF) of the People’s Republic of China: The MOF holds about 31.14% of ICBC’s shares, representing the state’s direct financial interest in the bank.
  • National Council for Social Security Fund (SSF): The SSF owns approximately 3.46% of ICBC’s shares, serving as a strategic reserve fund to support social security expenditures.
  • Public and Institutional Investors: The remaining shares are held by various domestic and international public and institutional investors, including those trading on the Shanghai and Hong Kong stock exchanges.

Meanwhile, the Central Huijin Investment Ltd. is fully owned by China Investment Corporation which, further, is fully owned by MOF. Therefore, the MOF, in the end, controls 34.71% plus 31.14% of its shares, holding most of its shares on MOF’s hands.

To recap, there’re only three entities that legitimately carry out duties and obligations of the representative of the P.R.C. as the owners or shareholders of SOEs: the SASAC of the State Council, the SASACs of the local governments, and the MOF. And, of course, the SASACs of the local governments are sub-departments of that of the State council.

Entities Capable of Carrying out Duties and Obligations of Regulatory Authorities of SOEs

As we discuss before, in the terms of investment, there’re only three entities involved. Whereas, in terms of regulations, more entities are involved, especially in certain industries, such as military or armed police systems. The followings are some of the entities, but not all.

  • Centrally Owned SOEs(中央企业)
  • Locally Owned SOEs (地方国有企业)
  • Central-Local Mixed Ownership Enterprise or Central-Local Joint Venture

Borrowed phrase from economist Chenggang Xu, the P.R.C. implemented regionally decentralized authoritarianism(RDA), which means central government in the P.R.C. maintains an authoritarian regime while delegating substantial administrative and economic authority to local governments, allowing local experimentation, economic competition, and development within a centrally controlled framework. The phenomena of SOEs just reflect this theory.

7 October 2024 at 20:48

funny

Shadow Banking Activities in the P.R.C.

30 May 2024 at 15:41

Factors leading to this happened

  • Insufficient supply of credit from four major banks (during the high-speed China’s economic development era)
  • Limited regulations over risky loans
  • Limited regulations over arbitrage
  • Inter-bank interactions exclusion from credit management
  • Chinese government’s control over interest rates
  • Criteria of promotion for the local government leaders
  • Others
    • Regulatory discouragement of lending money to certain industries

Additional risks

About two-thirds of all lending in China by shadow banks are “bank loans in disguise”.[7] One of the controversies of this industry is that retail investors are largely unsure about what sorts of risks they are taking on when engaging in shadow banking.[8] The connections between traditional banks and the shadow banking system further cloud the picture and at the same time contribute to increased risk.[9]

Methods in detailed

  • Wealth Management Products(WMPs), aka.
    • Why people would invest it? And what’re its risks?
      • Compared to deposit, it can offer higher return.
      • Although people invest, they usually don’t know what exact portfolio would financial institutions invest, as well as banks usually wouldn’t like to tell them. Moreover, some of products cannot even ensure investors’ principles, which put huge risks on investors.
    • How can it bypass regulations? Or, how can this shadow banking activities do not appear on banks’ balance sheet?
      • Their yield comes from the ‘performance’ or ‘value’ of assets upon which the product is built. These financial products designed and sold by financial institutions, like banks, trusts and securities firms, do not appear on the institutions’ balance sheet.
      • Ostensibly, banks act like an intermediaries rather than actual holders, which gives them reasonable pretexts that they don’t show this shadow banking activities on balance sheet.
    • How’s the situation in US? And why doesn’t Chinese government legislate it to force it to appear on the banks’ balance sheets?
      • Issuing a WMP is strictly regulated in US, through several regulatory bodies, while, although such products do have some regulation to some extent in the PRC historically, they’re loosely regulated, which makes evasion from regulation possible and rampant. For now, the central government has made more significant efforts to regulate WMPs and shadow banking.
      • Although Chinese government, including its highest leaders, is aware of this situation, even the central government does not know the exact amount of number of WMPs. Secondly, considering the officials’ criteria of promotion within the CCP system, historically, local government would try their best to maximize leveraging, and the central government also knows this, but considering the fast development needs and how the authoritarianism system works, both local and central government historically didn’t have such willingness to regulate it.
      • As for now, the amount of number is enormously large, which is really a big problem and several serious results have risen up. Recognition of central government about this serious issue makes central government to have strong willingness to regulate, but, as for the local government, the criteria of promotion remains similar. The easier ways to achieve the economic development, aka GDP numbers in CCP’s criteria system, is still to leverage, resulting in local governments to have less willingness to regulate this. Although considering the pyramid system within the CCP, sometimes local governments have to follow the instructions from higher leadership, while, it’s still clear to say the local governments don’t  have such stimulus to regulate. If such situation were not to be changed, we will still see huge investment from the local government, such as infrastructure investment.
      • Hypothetically, If the central government were to force banks to include the WMPs on their balance sheets immediately, several negative and serious economic results would occur, such as bank runs, bankruptcies, economic instability. This creates a dilemma: forcing banks to include them on balance sheet would cause problems, while, maintaining the status quo would also lead to problems eventually.
    • The number of WMPs
      • Its number has been increasing steadily, with it increasing from less than ¥500 billion in 2004 to ¥9.5 trillion by the end of 2013.
  • Trust Products
  • Entrusted Loans
  • Alternative Financing
  • Interbank Market Activities

How China Works: An Introduction to China’s State-led Economic Development

Book Notes & Recommendation by Lucas | How China Works, by Xiaohuan Lan

25 May 2024 at 14:58

Prelude

Without understanding of China’s politics, then it’s impossible to understand China’s economy. Starting from the last year of the ominous China’s economy, I also got much more interested in macroeconomics, or, I got interested in for the first time in my life. Of course, I think English helps a lot in terms of cultivating my interest, which I don’t have to read about written in a monotonous CCP’s language.

This is a book showing several important periods of transition and development, terminologies of the Party and the economics, historical background and factors, logics of how it develops and works, etc. Although the PRC’s economics and politics are closely associated, this book focuses more on economic sides. So, whether your political spectrum is more pro-CCP, neutral, or pro-democracy, this book is beneficial for everyone who wants to know and understand China’s economy about where should and would it go. In fact, if you take closer to think about its publication date and the contents written in the book, you can see the author even “predicted” the future to some degree, which requires you to know clearly about the current situation.

It also takes time to read, considering its terminologies, background and complexity. If I could borrow a word from Mandarin to describe its category, I would use “通识”, stands for liberal education in English. If there’s no other book surprises me this year, I think this will be my “The Book in 2024”. Anyway, hope you enjoy it.

Excerpt

The following is extracted from the book that I think they’re interesting, combined with some other materials I researched.

The departments’ relationship can be called “vertical strips and horizontal blocks” relationships, namely, “条块关系”, in the China’s unique political structures consisted by the “four teams”, namely, “四套班子” : party committees, administrative government, the National People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.

The “four teams” structure is replicated at each level of the government, with a few notable exceptions. For example, the central government has the Ministry of Finance, the provincial government likewise has a finance department and the city and county government has a finance bureau.

Most local government departments have to accept dual leadership from both stripes and blocks. As an example, a county-level education bureau needs to accept the leadership of both the city education bureau vertically and the leadership of the county-level party committee and county government horizontally. In this example, the “strip” means the higher department and the block means the party committee and the government in the same level.

Externality

The geographical scope and authority of China’s local government is determined by administrative districts, and the extent of local power is bound together with the administrative district in question

Division of Administrative Districts

Factors: Languages, population

Areas of population inflow can merge counties and establish districts to expand the city, however areas of population outflow rarely abolish administrative districts, preferring instead to merge facilities to save cost (e.g., merging two schools together).

Regions located at the boundary of administrative districts tend to be underdeveloped. This phenomena, known as “三不管地带” roughly translated as “anarchic regions”, can also be explained using the framework of scale effects and boundaries of public goods. Interestingly, such problems are also existed in the ROC era, moreover, these anarchic regions provided a fertile space for the Communist party during the revolutionary period(1921-1949). Such phenomenons were demonstrate on roads a few decades, but this is limited to roads and expressways invested by the provincial government, not national roads and railways. Now, traffic is not a major problem. Some provinces choose to locate factories and businesses that have a high level of water pollution on downstream provincial borders, in doing so the pollution released mainly affects the downstream province and the average level of pollution in the polluting province may actually decrease.

To solve the anarchic regions problem, the best way to manage the cross-district externalities is to appoint a supervisor with authority to coordinate and make decisions. This is why strips and blocks systems are needed.

According to the most recent regulations on the handling of government and party documents issued by the State Council in 2012 (which I will refer to here as “the regulations”), there are 15 types of official document. These include “Decisions” and “Orders” which must be strictly implemented by lower levels, those that can be handled relatively flexibly, such as “Opinions” and “Notices”, as well as those which have less information content such as “Letters” and “Minutes”.

Before the firm moves in, the local government will make some initial investments in the area, including providing electricity, transport links, heating, ventilation, supplying water, drainage and communication networks, and the land must be leveled as well. (a process known in Chinese as “七通一平” which translates to “7 openings and 1 leveling”).

Local governments can also provide tax incentives or subsidies for certain businesses. Examples may include tax credit for research and development or subsidies on export. One common tax incentive involves businesses paying no corporate income tax for the first three years of operation and paying half the rate for years 3 to 6 (known as the “three tax-free and three half-tax” or “三免三减半”).

The reasons why land finance became such prominent, namely, the surging price of houses

However, in 1998, two significant changes occurred, and the true value of urban land began to emerge. The first change is that government and state-owned enterprises (SOEs) stopped building housing for their workers, and instead paid money to the workers in the form of a housing subsidy. The era of commercial housing and real estate development therefore started in earnest. From 1997 to 2002, the average annual growth rate of newly constructed residential areas reached 26%, and the absolute number increased 4x in 5 years. The second change is that the implementation of the revised “Land Administration Law of the People’s Republic of China” which stipulated that rural land could only be used for non-agricultural construction purposes if it is first transferred to state-owned land, thereby giving city governments a monopoly over urban land construction.

Land Finance & Debt & Snowball

The real power of “land finance” is not the high sales value of land use rights, but its ability to use land as collateral to mobilize capital markets and leverage up more funds for investment. It snowballs in size, leading to more and more investment, but also more and more debt for local governments, which has become a significant problem for China’s economy in recent years.

LGFVs(Local Government Financing Vehicles)

aka.

However, the official name of these vehicles does not contain the word “financing”, rather most of them use words such as “investment and development” or “construction”, which emphasizes the company’s role in investment rather than financing. So in China, these vehicles are also collectively referred to as Urban Investment Corporations

To use some Chinese terminology, a piece of “raw land” (生地) that has been marked for development, can turn into “ripe land” (熟地) ready for development, only after the land is leveled and cleaned up.

Government industrial Guidance Funds / Private Equity Funds

Local governments cannot borrow directly from banks, therefore urban investment corporations act as financing vehicles. Similarly, governments cannot make direct equity investments in capital markets, therefore it is necessary to set up a company to operate and manage the guidance fund.

These fund managing companies fall into 3 broad categories. The first group are wholly state-owned enterprises, such as Beijing Yizhuang State Investment, an investor in BOE. The second group are mixed-ownership companies, such as Shenzhen Capital Group Co. Ltd., which is entrusted to manage the huge Shenzhen Guidance Fund. The largest shareholder of this company is the Shenzhen city government, but it only holds a 28% share. The third category is more like CFLD discussed in the previous chapter. Guidance funds in small cities are small in scale, and local governments have neither the resources nor the expertise to establish special management companies for them, so they simply entrust the funds to private companies, such as Prosperity Investment Group.

Shadow Banking

The bank may therefore create a so-called wealth management product that attracts household savings at a rate of 5%, entrusting the money to a trust company. Then the trust company lends the money to the real estate company. In this so-called bank-trust cooperation, the wealth management product created by the bank is not recorded as bank deposits, and the money entrusted to the trust company is not recorded as bank loans, so the entire transaction is not recorded in the balance sheet of the bank and is therefore not subject to bank regulations. This is a form of shadow banking.

🇨🇳 P.R.C’s & CCP’s Political System

25 March 2024 at 16:36

Intro

For most of people, even who live in the PRC for years or decades, it’s still highly possible that the political structure couldn’t be understood, especially when it comes to the difference between the Party and the State, as well as I did.

This is the very first step of learning politics for me. And, I believe that it would also benefit others like I did, so I decide to publish and share it with you. Moreover, this is a part of a series. In the future, I would also try to learn other nation’s political structures, like US, AU, and ROC.

Notice: During the process of searching and learning, I’m aware of that even wikipedia did uncomfortable censorship to some degree, although it’s much better than BaiduBaike(百度百科) in the terms of tools of information collecting and resources. So, if you want to dive deeper, I highly suggest you learn and do research in English. Other than that, if you’re a bi-linguist, it would be much better, and the comparison of the context in two different languages would surely bring sarcastic joys for you.

Anyway, please enjoy it. You can e-mail me if you find out something wrong.

When I was very little, I was very nervous and terrified every time I went back to my primary school, because my teachers are very cruel, and it’s even okay to say they are evil. They would punish me for very small things by hitting, kicking, whipping or even slapping in my face. For example, I would get hit because I forgot submitting my homework even if I’ve already done it.

Weapons and Women

The weapons they used were stories. They shifted from tools to tools.

The first generation was wooden rulers, hollow iron handles of brooms, and solid wooden handles of brooms. Whereas, they all had a similar problem: bad endurance. After using them as punishing tools for many times, they would be broken, as they were originally not designed as weapons. Until now, I still vividly remember, once during the punish, the hollow iron broom handle split into halves, students whose eyes almost got hurt by the accident splinter, the terrified classmates and the gloomy weather. And I was just fearfully sitting on my own seat, watching them getting beaten, unsure of whether I would be the next.

These weapons hurt, but not durable.

To solve this problem, the math teacher ordered a tailored, solid and iron stick. Even in the mainland China at that time, it wasn’t quite usual. Most of Chinese teachers would just use the aforementioned tools for punishing, instead of buying some special tools. But how did I know it was tailored, instead of something I didn’t know, considering I was still very young at that time? In fact, it was the woman who taught the math told us this information. She announced one day in public that after waiting for days, the stick was finally delivered, excitingly, with her big goofy smile on her ugly face and squinting eyes behind her thick glasses. The outside was made by iron. The inside of the stick was filled with some kind of concrete powder or something. Up to now, I still didn’t know what was that. It can be slightly bent with some efforts, a bit of weighty, considering its slender shape. The most important was it hurts. Hands would get swollen up every time I got beaten, much worse than rulers, because of its slender shape.

The woman who taught mandarin also showed her creativity. She used the off-the-shelf tool: skipping rope.

I call it the third generation of weapons. It perfectly catered the principle of what weapons would be used for punishment: endurance and pain. Personally, it’s unable to compare which one was the worst: skipping rope or the tailored stick. In the terms of shape and pain, they were quite similar. Although math wasn’t her specialty, mandarin was indeed her talent. She told us that “Although she was the one beating us and we hurt physically, emotionally she was so hurt, she didn’t feel good for beating us”. Wow, what a wonderful way to use language, huh. Now, she was even the suffer.

Parents and Punishment

Other than these I listed, I also got physically punished by different means, but I wasn’t the worst one.

The worst was one of my classmates. My teachers once publicly announced they’ve gotten the permission from his parents to beat him as a punishment. And teachers even artificially said they didn’t have the heart to do so, although they did so many times in fact. My classmate once showed me the plentiful long bruises on his back in the dormitory: they are dark, purple and red. Purple ones meant they have been for a while since the time he got hit. Dark ones meant they were getting to recover. While, red ones meant they’re so fresh. Some of them were gotten from the teachers, and the others were from his parents. What makes it more miserable was his back always had dark, purple and red ones.

I told my parents about this. The only feedback I got is “Teachers are for students’ own good”. After that, I totally gave up on resorting for their help. I knew it’s worthless and what would I get if my teachers know I told my parents. Of course, normal connections of trust between me and my parents has never been built since that.

Practice and Learn

All of these lead that every time I saw the gate of the school in distant, my heart would start pounding. I still remember vividly I sat in the back of the electric vehicle of my parents’, quietly listening the pounding of my heart and the sound of the wind streaking clearly. I kept telling myself to calm down for years. But, my heart remained pounding during those years.

Situations got slightly better after I grew up a little. The day I graduated from the primary school, I feel deeply relieved, instead of sadness. Once I read a news saying a student beat his teacher after he had graduated for years, when he accidentally run into his teacher. Of course, he said he had been terribly treated when he had been in the school. I asked myself a question after I read this news, if I had been in the same situation, would I have done the same thing? During a long period of growth, I didn’t know. What I did know is such evil thoughts had once been in my mind.

Backing to the question, I’ve been practicing this ability of keeping calm since I was in the primary school, so negative emotions wouldn’t easily and heavily affect me. It’s not a gift, it’s something through learning and practicing.

Remotely access local network via QX and SS

7 March 2024 at 16:48

Intro

For people who live within the GFW, accessing their own local network, like the home network and company or school network, is usually an annoying issue, because we normally want to access global services and local services at the same time. Whereas, the tools providing the local network accessing ability, famously like VPN, WireGuard, NAT traversal, port forwarding, would take over all your network traffic when you use them, which means you have to keep switching it on and off to access both local and global services, not to mention they’re usually complex to set up

But by using QX and SS you can take advantage of the followings:

  • Seamlessly network experience when you access local and global services, which means you don’t have to turn the switch on and off
  • Encrypted data transfer when using public Wi-Fi
  • Easy to set up and easy to use
  • Smooth Apple-platform experience, thanks for QX’s iCloud sync supported
  • Multiple service protocol supported, you don’t have to set up port forwarding separately for each service, like FTP, SMB, Web, etc.
  • Bonus one: IPv4 to IPv6 tunnel or IPv6 to IPv4 tunnel supported, but also requires extra settings

Briefly Intro for QX and SS

“SS Proxy Protocol” is really famous in the group of users who use it to bypass the GFW’s censorship, which is originally designed to use it in that way, basically everyone knows it. QX, formally Quantumult X, is a proxy client exclusively for Apple devices, providing cross-platform experience based on iCloud synced configuration file. Both of them have their alternative products, like v2ray or SSR for SS, and Surge, Loon or Shadowrocket for QX. Choose one you like, I will exemplify by using SS and QX in this article.

Censorship&Safety Concerns in the mainland China

Because of SS’s popularity, the Big Brother has already targeted on it. Moreover, the GFW has already had the capability to identify SS protocol and therefore to block it. But, according to the realistic considerations and the reasonable assumption based on the technology, the censorship reputedly only deploys on the gate of global networks traffic in some main cities, like Shanghai and She Zheng, which means it should be fine to deploy SS domestically, especially at your home.

Moreover, according to P.R.C.’s laws, it should and would have been totally legal to use SS for local network access, as you had been intentionally setting it to access local network, instead of global network. But you know what I mean. The concerns of security still remain in this land. But, to remember, once you read this, it should be concerning enough.

After all, according to my assessment and real experience, it wouldn’t be a problem. I’ve been using it for at least a half-year. But, if you still have concerns, please use other up-to-date and relatively less common proxy protocols, like Reality or hysteria. Because, if the GFW cannot catch you outside, it cannot be possible to identify your network access behavior domestically, unless you’re doing really really dangerous things.

So, Without further ado, let’s heading to the main section.

First: deploy SS Server

While I would like to help you to set up SS server step by step, there’re already enormous tutorials on the internet suitable for any operating systems, and I don’t think I can do better than them. The deploying script is extremely simple to use, usually just copy one command into your terminal, it would install automatically.

Linux: https://teddysun.com/486.html
macOS: Please use built-in SS Server in Quantumult X, located in “Setting – Misc Settings – VPN – SS Server”
Windows: https://www.librehat.com/three-minutes-to-set-up-shadowsocks-server-on-windows/

So, in this part, I would only point out some important requirements.

  • Public IP Address Required: IPv4 or IPv6
    • Unfortunately, in the mainland China, unless you are the users of China Telecom, the others, like China Mobile and China Unicom, usually wouldn’t provide a public IP address for you. Moreover, because of global IPv4 address shortage, even China Telecom would be unwilling to provide IPv4 address for customers in some areas.
    • But, does that mean if you don’t have a public IPv4 address, you cannot reference my article? Not exactly. As I said before, it requires a public IP address, no matter it’s based on IPv4 or IPv6. So, that means you can use IPv6 instead. And this is a good news, because the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in P.R.C is promoting IPv6, requiring ISPs to support IPv6 for home broadband users. So, if you find out that your network doesn’t have a public IPv4 address and don’t support IPv6, just call the ISP’s service number, and they will fix it for you. After all, considering the status quo, using IPv4 is still the best option.
    • One thing needs to be very careful during the setup of SS if you use IPv6: Turn on IPv6 listening. Some script may not turn on this for you.
  • Port Forwarding / Firewall
    • After resolving public IP address problem, make sure you turn on public internet port listening
      • If you deploy it on your OpenWRT being your gateway, port forwarding is unnecessary. SS server software is built in OpenWRT firmware in most cases, which means you don’t have to install it, you only need to turn it on.
      • Deploy it elsewhere, like Linux or Apple TV
        • Using IPv4: go into router’s settings to turn on port forwarding.
        • Using IPv6: it usually doesn’t need to do so. But if you cannot access after deploying, maybe go to check both the gateway router and the server itself, especially if you’re using Windows being your SS server.

Bonus one: If you have Mac or Apple TV at home, then I would highly recommend you to “deploy” SS on them, as it’s the simplest way to do so. Just download QX in AppStore, go into the “Settings – Misc Settings – VPN – SS Server” and turn it on. No need for extra complex settings at all.

DDNS

Hypothetically assuming you’d already acquired a public IPv4/IPv6 address, the next thing you should do is setting a DDNS service, because even if you have a public IP address, it usually wouldn’t be a permanent one, which means it would change automatically and irregularly, unless you pay a bunch of money to your ISP. By setting a DDNS service, you would access the real-time IP address indirectly. Anyway, if you’re interested in more informative details, you can find more on YouTube. After all, it’s necessary for home broadband, but, if you’re a commercial broadband user, it would usually be a static IP address, then use the IP address directly.

DDNS is not always free for using. Some of them are free, and some are not. I would highly recommend you to use free ones, it’s unnecessary to pay for it. But, unfortunately, the choice is limited to the current the law in the mainland China, because most of domestic DDNS services now require Chinese citizens identification of users. Instead, you can use global DDNS services. Although they mostly don’t get blocked by the GFW, it’s getting blocked. So, pick the right one and make sure you have several for backing up.

Here’s my personal recommendation for DDNS service providers, according to the principles: free of using, free of identification and accessible in the mainland China:

  • QNAP DDNS (QNAP NAS required, but the simplest one)
  • Dynv6

The process of deployment shouldn’t be tough, just follow the instructions that DDNS service provides provide you.

QX’s Configuration

Step 1: Add the Server(SS)

SettingsImport your SS proxy server here.

After importing the server, make sure that you have a IPv6 address on your client device before you test it, if you’re using IPv6 address on your proxy server.

Step 2: Add Policy

IMG 0109QX provides several policy methods, allowing users to select different proxy servers

Option 1 (Basic)
Manually switch between “direct” and “proxy”

Add the following

static="YOUR POLICY NAME", direct, "YOUR SS PROXY SERVER's NAME", img-url=homekit.system

Or if you have multiple servers

static="YOUR POLICY NAME", direct, "YOUR SS PROXY SERVER01's NAME", "YOUR SS PROXY SERVER02's NAME", "YOUR SS PROXY SERVER03's NAME", img-url=homekit.system

Explanation

  • static
    • Indicates the policy type in QX
  • direct
    • Direct access
  • YOUR SS PROXY SERVER’s NAME”
    • Proxy servers, as many as you want. You can also add a policy here. So, when you choose it, it would use the same server as the this policy.
  • img-url=homekit.system
    • The icon showing in the QX. You can later change it in the QX by right clicking the policy and selecting icon to modify it.

Option 2 (Advanced)
Manually switch between “direct” and “proxy” & automatically select available SS proxy server from multiple SS servers(if you have several ones for backups)

Add the following

static="YOUR POLICY NAME 01", direct, "YOUR SECOND POLICY NAME SUCH AS 'available proxy' ", img-url=homekit.system
available= "AVAILABLE PROXY", "YOUR SS PROXY SERVER01's NAME", "YOUR SS PROXY SERVER02's NAME", "YOUR SS PROXY SERVER03's NAME", img-url=homekit.system

Explanation

  • The “static” policy named “YOUR POLICY NAME 01” allows you to select manually between “proxy your network traffic via your home SS server” and “direct access”.
  • While, the “available” policy named “AVAILABLE PROXY” would automatically switch to an available proxy server sequentially if one of them is down. “AVAILABLE PROXY” shouldn’t be appeared in the following filter part, if you do not have special needs.

More Options(More advanced)
You can modify it, based on your own needs and referencing to the example above.

Notice: Please replace the part in the double quotation marks, including the double quotation marks – “” themselves.

Step 3: Modify Filter

IMG 0108

If your local network is ranged from “192.168.2.0” to “192.168.2.255”, then add this. Modify the part suitable for you, if it is not. And replace the part in the double quotation marks, including the double quotation marks – “” themselves.

ip-cidr, 192.168.2.0/24, "YOUR POLICY NAME 01"

Explanation

  • The first part: “ip-cidr”
    • Used for judging what type of address it is, a IPv4 address, a IPv6 address or a URL. And “ip-cidr” is used for IPv4 address.
  • The second part: “192.168.2.0/24”
    • The part before a slash presents a IPv4 address, while the part behind the splash identifies the subnet mask. If you don’t know what subnet mask is, the quick introduction: it’s used for defining a range of local network. You can use an online subnet mask calculator to help you decide what subnet mask you should use. Check out this: https://www.calculator.net/ip-subnet-calculator.html
    • If you want to proxy a specific ip address, like 192.168.2.233, then you should modify it like this- “192.168.2.233/32”, instead of “192.168.2.233/24”.
    • You probably notice in my screenshot, there’s a rule “ip-cidr, 192.168.0.0/16, direct”, which shows a larger local network range than “192.168.2.0/24”. But, in the QX, “192.168.2.0/24″‘s rule prioritize than “192.168.0.0/16″‘s rule. So, it’s okay. But if you run into a problem, maybe you can modify this part to fix your problem.
  • The third part “YOUR POLICY NAME 01”
    • In this part, you should use your own policy name that you define before. And whatever advanced policy you configure, the policy should be able to select between proxy and direct, unless you would only be allowed to proxy your network traffic all the time.

The Book in 2023

28 January 2024 at 16:08

Achievement in 2023

At the beginning of 2023, I decided to started reading English books, being a method of learning English, meanwhile, and also being a means of broadening my horizons. I read one saying online said “if you’ve already established a reading habit in your native language, then reading a foreign language book to be as a tool of language-learning is possible, vice versa”.

I established a reading habit when I was in college. Living under the China’s “teaching to the test” educational system, I, and I believe a lot of students like me, don’t like reading, partially because what we read are basically what the Big Brother wants and allows us to read. With my one-year observation with English, the universal and international language today, I believe the whole system just doesn’t encourage students to broaden their minds.

Moreover, as CCP is tightening its control, the social and academic environment is both becoming more and more narrow. In this painful and withering process, I slowly realized that Mandarin being a language is so deeply contaminated in subconscious and hidden ways, especially for those people who use simplified Chinese.

It’s like boiling the frog, yet the temperature is way too high. It’s really the time to read in English.

Wild Swans by Jung Chang

If I have to choose one book to be the best book I read in 2023, then the book Wild Swans by Jung Chang should be the one. It was very late for me to realize the book is very famous outside of the mainland China. This book has several editions in different language. For most Chinese, I would recommend English and traditional Chinese editions, because, according to its author Jung Chang, although the simplified Chinese edition has never been officially published, and in the foreseeable future would never be, there’s a pirate simplified Chinese edition circulating in the mainland China, which is also a censored edition. The only one edition that is not censored is the traditional Chinese edition, which was published in Taiwan. So, I strongly recommend you to read the traditional Chinese edition if you think it’s bit of challenging to read the English edition.

You can get it via Z-lib, a website for downloading e-books for totally free, or you can get it from Amazon or Apple Book Store, if you know how. But to notice, the all pirate versions for English edition that circulate online contains several misspellings. So, reading it is kind of troublesome, although it’s not gonna impede your understanding.

Back to content itself, I think the majority of Gen-Z like me don’t fully understand the PRC’s history, especially under the strict information control by CCP. But after reading this book, every time when people talk about the China’s humiliation of history, I would think about the cultural revolution, the Great Leap Forward and other enormous political upheaval launched by Mao. How about the deaths caused by these political campaigns, because the number of deaths is dramatically higher than the killings by Japanese.

Ruthless killing and invasion are truly disastrous for the whole world, but, meanwhile, does that mean those who involved in these political upheaval are way more ruthless than “disgusting” Japanese people, considering the corresponding deaths are remarkably higher, moreover, Japanese have already paid for their mistakes, while, someone’s picture is still hanging on there? This is only one very contradictory thing I realize.

We learned from the history textbook that Culture Revolution is a “mistake”, which, according to my knowledge, this description about the Culture Revolution being a mistake is even changing now. Still, enormous questions and facts hasn’t been revealed. Correspondingly, justice has never been brought.

How this political campaign was mobilized and what’s the point for? How about the actual price for this mistake? How this deeply affected hundreds and thousands of families? How many people’s lives were ruined by this “mistake”? Did the authority really reflect on their mistakes? Such meaningful questions that have never been raised and you can never count on finding them in the textbook can now be seen in this book, and, of course, you can conclude your own answers.

My suggestion is every Chinese needs to learn our own history, especially for those who really think they’re patriotic.

There’s also one my personal assumption: in the process of reading, you may naturally compare the history to now, because you can find plentiful similarities can be shared. Then, I have a sentence that I read from the internet for you: “History doesn’t repeat itself, but it often rhymes.” by Mark Twain.

Red Roulette by Desmond Shum

I was so struggling when I run into a question, “What’s the best you read in 2023, if you have to choose one book?”. Although I previously recommend Wild Swans by Jung Chang being the Book in 2023, when I was still in the middle of reading it, I couldn’t decide one. This book is also overwhelming.

The only reason I rate this to be a secondary book in my 2023 is because it only includes a small part of era and mainly focus on Hu-Wen’s era, which is much less politically upside-down, compared to Mao’s era.

Red Roulette writes the recent history and hidden secrets about highest leaderships, all of which you cannot expect to find them online, even in foreign media news. It gives you a glance of how the system actually works behind the scenes. The political network, personal connections and “the red blood” are the core of ruling rules. I really like what the author, Desmond Shum, said on a podcast show: “I was like being an outsider, trying to get in insiders.” At this political point, I believe a lot of ordinary Chinese people are outsiders, ignoring the fact that we all live in China.

Every businessman in china is “white-glove” for the system, according to what he said on a podcast show called “百灵果” based in Taiwan he attended. To be a white-glove doesn’t need to involve high-level politics. If you’re an ordinary person, if you want to open a small business, like a small booth around the street corner, you need to bribe your local authorities for protection. And the authorities don’t need to be as big as government. You become a white-glove when you bribe the local auxiliary policeman. That says doing any business activities needs to be a part of system. Connection is so important. I have never perceived this from this angle, until I heard his words. I think, for people whoever want to do a business, this book is really helpful for comprehending the logic of business operation.

How to fix “error 59” and “error 60” bugs when subscribing websites on FreshRSS

26 October 2023 at 11:40

Issue

When you try to subscribe some websites by using FreshRSS, you would probably notice that there’re some issues to some certain websites(not all websites). The error prompt showing “cURL error 60” will pop up in logs, if you use “https”. But another error prompt showing “cURL error 59” would also pop up. Even you choose to use “http” and even turn off the selection – “Advanced – Verify SSL security” – as “NO”, the problem cannot be solved. By following the guide showing that try to add “#force_feed” to solve this problem, some websites still cannot be subscribed and same error prompts would still exist.

In simple terms, the fundamental factor causing the problems is SSL certificate, which causes verification issues. To solve the problem, we have to modify some configurations.

“…, and with it/these + Noun” 独立主格结构

11 October 2023 at 14:52

Example

01

“As a child’s self-esteem is undermined, his dependence grows, and with it his need to believe that his parents are there to protect and provide.”

— Excerpt from Toxic Parents by Susan Forward

02

Then came the arrest, and with it the fear of being questioned by the police.

— From the Internet

Explanation

在这个句子01中,“his dependence grows”是主句,“his dependence”是主语,“grows”是动词。而前半部分的“As a child’s self-esteem is undermined”很好理解,即“随着/当孩子的自尊受到破坏”。本句的重点在后半句——”, and with it…”

“As a child’s self-esteem is undermined, his dependence grows, and with it being his need to believe that his parents are there to protect and provide.”

No way back to dream – Approaching to the second half

19 September 2023 at 12:38

Prelude

I’ve been recording my occasional thoughts popping up into my head on my private telegram channel since college. I would sometimes post them to my blog on which you’re currently reading after I thought it was the right timing at that moment. One day in college, during my daydreaming and roaming, I suddenly came up with an idea and decided to give the name to it, “Mind Spark”, complying with its characteristics – out of nowhere, transient, bright and inspiring, just like the spark.

Through observation of my inner mental space, I wound up finding out that the frequency of production of ideas really relates to my mental state and my recent emotional flow. Thanks to that, I posted them on and off, since even myself cannot guarantee what the exact timing of “Mind Spark” popping up is. Apart from being calm through reflecting and recording my personal development, there’s not any motivation for me to do so, if not for fun. But something has changed, it’s no longer existing just to please me.

Over the past half year, my mindset has been hugely restructured as well as these mind sparks. Instead of for fun and relief, I started noticing that my mind sparks are more likely the records of self-enlightenment, which I should definitely write them down. I clearly know what leaded to happen and it’s also the reason I write the prelude which I usually don’t bother to do it.

We Chinese have been taught that we must have the three “RIGHT” perspectives, which are the perspective of the world, perspective of life, and perspective of the value, which if you conform with the main values then you have it, vice versa. I didn’t know this terminology, which I have been thinking it’s ridiculous for a long while, actually comes from the Party until recently. One thing has been bothering me a lot – what does “right” mean? Namely, who is the one judge it? Knowing it with my intuitive, I just don’t follow the rule.

English learning starting at elementary school is not an unusual thing. But for most Chinese, English learning is actually not for the learning itself, it’s more likely for learning for the exam. I used to be one of them. Like most Chinese, I don’t know the importance, especially in this land, of English. But for some reasons, I started taking it seriously. Then, another more fundamental question is emerging – if people couldn’t even know the basic English, then how could you demand them have the “right” perspective of the world, considering the serious censorship, considering the everlasting political propaganda and the rampant fake news? And all of these truth, you can not find them in that land.

I always have a sense of alienation – this kind of alienation is similar with you always know there’s something different between you and your people, like being half-awake, like you know something is wrong, something bad is happening, but you just couldn’t find the root.

Political propaganda is spreading like wildfire, occupying people’s life – it’s the dream of renaissance of that country. To me, it’s really like a dream – everybody is living in a big bubble, sleeping in, but once people wake up, knowing the truth, there’s just no way back to dream……

The Mind Spark – First half

It all start at 2022/02/10

People like the feelings, the ambience and the atmosphere.

2

3

For people who did’t say or repost any piece of information that someone or anyone needed help in the past 3 pandemic years on their social media, I’ll really deliberate what these guys are gonna say later in their life. They were not only deceiving themselves but also lacking of sympathy, both of which I cannot accept at all.

4

Wanna lie down on the rooftop in the summer air.

5

Maybe you don’t know what exactly you want, but at least you should know what you definitely don’t want.

6

The law, namely catch-all offenses, will shame people after one hundred years.

7

One step forward, two steps back.

8

Truth or even reality doesn’t matter to some guys. To them, it only matters how Big Brother depicts it, who uses nationalism and collectivism as tools to maintain authority and legitimacy and to manipulate the mass people. Thus, hatred, discrimination and prejudice are widely spreading.

9

All the interesting conversations are now happening in private.

10

Being special among the ordinary crowds is such a gift. Anybody feeling pain should always remember that.

11

Wish nobody cried this time.

12

Be tolerant with negative guys, be friends with positive fellow.

13

The incredible discipline happening in my nephew’s middle school is gonna blow your minds. Some students were punished with no admission for dining at school, simply because they littered trash casually. Then, I can tell that a brilliant idea must pop into their pretty heads. The school demanded the parents whose kids were punished should deliver their lunch to school, otherwise they will not be permitted to eat, since there’s no other choice.

The whole thing was totally ridiculous. Teachers thought they were just disciplining, but I think they were just showing their muscles, they were too intoxicated to be aware of that they’ve been so damn drunk in power in the name of disciplining. Don’t they see it’s totally against the fundamental human rights? After starvation had dominated people’s sympathetic lives for so many years, after starvation has almost been wiped out from this land, they still kept doing it to discipline? Does that even make sense?

Not everything needs punishment, cause adults do things wrong, and don’t even mention they’re still kids.

And, is that the right way to how teachers divide the responsibilities of teaching students with parents? As if the teachers totally ditched the educational responsibilities to the parents. I mean, surely, parents should also take educational responsibilities, but definitely not in this kind of way. To teachers, showing authority to students can’t satisfy their senses of superiority. Now, they’re showing that towards parents.

Moreover, the most astonishing part for me is not only the punishment, there’s no one parent fighting for their kids at all in my nephew’s class! Even the method of punishment has transcended, yet parents either believe teachers are all correct or they’re afraid of being treated unfairly to their kids.

I just worry about what students would feel and perceive after years later.

14

I just can’t get it, girls.

Boys incline to have a big fight with friends when they have conflicts, after that, they are still friends. But for most girls I’ve seen, they usually just break up with each other after a big fight, like forever. Moreover, they won’t leave any space for maneuver for rehabilitation, as though all things they had been through and all emotion they’ve been sensing don’t exist, and their past, connections and emotions are worth nothing.

Folks always say girls incline to be more sensitive, boys incline to be more rational. But are these sayings true?

22

Big Brother can never forbid every single word so that people can’t talk about things, situations, truths. People can always find substitutive words, a way to get it, to spread it.

That’s the one thing I’ve leaned from the past three years, but the Big Brother never gets tired of playing this cat and mouse games, such childish.

23

The thing I feel so sorry is that everyone who lives under the Big Brother has to censor themselves in case bad things happen to them.

54

I think most of us, even who has dissent, can still accept or agree with that country needs time to progress, which was once happening until “you know who” was in charge. Everything is coming back rapidly.

60

If the Big Brother decides to influence the domestic masses’ minds, how come can the masses resist?

61

Sometimes I just don’t get the point, how come the gigantic narratives come to your life? Don’t you ever focus on small things that really happen to your life, pro-Party?

68

I believe people all know deep inside “surrendering yourself” is the only way you can move on in this land, but since this is so cruel, sometimes we just ignore it, like if we don’t feel it then the pain doesn’t exist.

But “surrendering yourself” doesn’t only happen to who is in a high position or wherein bureaucracy, it happens everywhere, like business, like even family. And I think we can blame on culture.

Contain your anger, don’t let it be overpowering.

Play the democracy card.

So the book, Atomic Habits, really has the proper reasons to go viral. For me, it’s more like a set of life hacking methods, breaking down the way of human thinking, whether consciously or subconsciously, giving the instructions you can follow, also the brand new perspectives.

I’ve read some other similar books, but they are so hollow. This one is different, so specific.

111

Patience, resistance, perseverance, willpower, energy, and even emotion, these are all consumables, which means they can be run out, while also could be replenished.

The key is time. There’s an intangibly variable limitation or threshold within a certain period, say, one day for better measurement. Once you reach its limitation, you just cannot get easily recovered, if not impossibly, whatever the meditation methods you use or the therapy you take within the time.

But there’re so many distracting things you can come across in everyday life in the way of learning or working, like the buzz or ringing from your phone, like the tantalizing smell of the junk food that wafts down from food shop in the way to hit the gym. Things like these eat off your finite energy, willpower, perseverance and all that. Every time you bump into these, you’re losing your consumables at some levels. Namely, the resistance against different temptations or the energy to take different activities is not isolated but correlated. The more resisting happens, the more energy you will cost, the more likely you cannot resist the next temptation.

112

Don’t throw in energy as much as possible at the very beginning. You probably couldn’t stick to it.

113

Chill out max, walking on the lane overshadowed, music and cicadas lingering around.

114

Undergraduates can be okay with not learning anything but the fitness and English. There’re so many fake press all around the world. Knowing another language can help people to reach the truth.

115

Enlightened from a Chinese medicine book I run into, I think it’s better perceive the Chinese medicine as a branch of the philosophy instead of a subject of science.

It’s extremely controversial when coming to this topic, which some people believe it’s a big lie involving substantial and dirty profits since there has many presses about the side effects of some Chinese medicines, whereas some people deeply believe of. Even Wikipedia warns latent risks of the Chinese medicines. From my perspective, the traditional Chinese medicine is so unreliable, since it can’t explain itself within its theories, even sometimes they’re contradictory.

The book came across is mainly based on the subject of the Chinese medicine, and the translated English book name is “Perceive the Chinese medicine in modernized way”. But in fact, it doesn’t refer to modernization or science. Ironically, despite of its name, it made several obvious mistakes. Anyway, basically, it’s a book persuading people to believe the Chinese medicine in a cunning way, with the cover’s saying – modernization.

But whatever the contents are, it is the one line that draws me attention and gives me a new insight to this subject.

We all know there’s a placebo effects in the modern medical treatments. The Chinese medicine is to patients who believe what placebo effects to patients who think they get the right treatment. So, comparing to modern medicines that have a lot of research you can pore over, it’s not the Chinese medicine worked efficiently but their beliefs.

See, surely, the Chinese medicine doesn’t align the theories of science at all, while it’s more close to to philosophies.

If you don’t go along with what I’ve said, just picture it. Do the some philosophical theories only work to some certain people who believe it while others don’t as well as the Chinese medicine? The answer is clear enough. You can’t deny the Chinese medicine as well as philosophies.

116

People have been longing for power and under ruling way too long. How couldn’t they not be rapture? They’ve been in this fucking system way too long, either surrender or being surrendered.

Let me share with you a story from mine.

Something ridiculous I heard from a person I’m acquainted with in my college. At that point student has been treated unfairly for something I couldn’t remember the details. She said if she had the power, she would definitely have had other people taste this feeling.

“How ironic she can be!” That was the only line in then my mind.

People who had been treated unfairly don’t wanna change the damn situation itself, instead, they want to have others taste the torment they once had. People who they hate are the ones they eventually will become. And you tell me it’s called fate, it’s called human beings… We could all do better.

Before this event happened to me, I wouldn’t believe that’s the way how people react, but it truly reflects how badly people, at least some people, especially people in low ranks, would behave.

Maybe this kind of story could help explain why so many ridicule had happened in the past three years and MAYBE will happen in future.

Insidious body shame – hairiness shame, I hate it, but which I shouldn’t

3 June 2023 at 17:04
Insidious, corner of my culture

I hate body shames, discriminations, moral kidnapping and the rest, which I shouldn’t since “hate” is hatred itself, which I hate it too, hahaha, just kidding, you know what I mean. So back to the point, body shame, you’ve definitely heard of such words if you do surfing whatever your nationality is, and to be honest, it’s getting kinda one political correctness, but not all political correctnesses are harmful, at least not this one. Being who you plays a big role in the person’s mental health, which basically liberates you from anxieties, shames, insufficient-confidence, and we should be grateful for, cause our pioneers really poured their blood, sweat and tears.

Before we dive in this sort of shames, we should know that body shames basically are everywhere, they can pop up out of nowhere in everyday life, but to cover them all in this article is impossible. Maybe just let me focus on this hairiness shame this time, because summer, which is my favorite, is coming, and I wish everyone can expose their skin confidently, of course need to be legal instead of being in exhibitionism, and enjoy this beautiful season.

This sort of shames, what I’m gonna talk about here – hairiness shame, is insidious. In my perspective, it hides at the corner of our Asian culture, especially in main land China, in where we don’t really talk about sex or any topic relating sex, like STD – Sexually Transmitted Diseases, or sex education. And I know, I know there’s another shame on opposite side, lack of hairiness, but in my observation, that’s not common in my culture ,or say, not noticeable, cause lack thereof is coincidentally conforming to the culture, no sex on the surface, like an elephant in a room, ironically. Based on that cultural convention, no one will judge or even say anything about other’s body of lack of hairiness. But is that saying the lack thereof leads to no shaming situation? At least in my perspective, it isn’t, commonly it leads to the opposite side of hairiness shame, lack of thereof, but subconsciously and unobviously. To testify my suspicion, I’ll give you some real life instance later on in this article.

Who shames on others shames on their lack thereof

First, why I said body shame is pertinent to the sex topic? To root up this idea all is probably impossible, like a river derives from everywhere and you can’t find them all, they’re all intricately connected somehow. But there does have something you can peek through how things happened, and how come things happened. As you can see, body hair can show muscularities in some ways, and some people even consider hairy people have stronger sexual abilities or desires than others, which no evidence can prove that is scientifically true. Based on that insane fallacy, one connection between body hair and sex has been established before we perceive it consciously.

And to further, because people who have less body hair conform the main culture, they think they naturally have the right to judge people’s behaviors whose have more body hair, sometimes deliberately but sometimes unintentionally. For instance, “You’d better get a hair removal.” – I didn’t ask your advice, you’d better save your suggestions; “You’re wearing a hairy pants.” – because you’re wearing a short, getting skins more exposed and which you shouldn’t, underlaying the words; “Oh, you have lot of hair on your leg” with neutral moods – I mean, Yeah? And? What’s the point? Like I said, some conscious, some unconscious, being in such environments is not comfortable, for some individuals toxic. Like, if you’re an introvert, if you want to shut them up but indirectly and politely instead of saying “shut up, it’s not your business”, seemingly the only way you could do is put your pants and coats on and hide your skin away. And that’s ridiculous.

I don’t know if you’ve watched the movie named American Beauty or not. There’s one piece of plots that occurred me, one character, father, homophobia, named Frank in the film who eventually ironically kissed another man after a hug, named Lester, shot him to death after Lester told Frank that he misunderstood. By the way, that’s a great movie you should definitely watch if you still not. So are people who shame others on their hairiness similar to Frank? That’s a good question to me. Who shames on people’s hairiness shames on themselves’ lack thereof, what if that is true, what an irony it can be, don’t you think so?

And as I said before, no sex topics one the surface that can easily lead to the opposite side, everything can be sexual meaning, like (A) Oh, having lot of body hairs? A sex monster machine, (B) Exposing more skins? Wanting to get fucked or fuck. (C) Having more friends of the opposite sex? A slut or rack…

I mean, really? How superficial they can be?

Personal Story: Trauma, Healing

Okay, let me bring up some real life stories of mine to address that more clear.

First story happened in my middle school, and my “班主任”, which I know there’s no such job in western world, so I’ll just name it in English, “Head-Class”, which means a teacher who is in charges of a class, usually teaching of one of main major subjects, which in China are Chinese, Maths, English, Science, Sociology in middle school, managing students from personal behaviors to academic performances even if he or she is not the teacher of the subject(s), basically doing every school parenting things, which is literally correct since lot of parents think the only thing they need to do is to put kids into school and teachers should take care of everything educational, even their kids are not even at school.

So since he/she was way too overpowered, and considering a lot of students literally live in middle school – students cannot be allowed to back home over a half dozen days, how come? According to what I just mentioned, parents put their kids into, even in middle school, like me, even began with since elementary school. You can easily picture how bad it can be, and how easily he/she could do shitty things to you, only if he/she wanted to.

And unfortunately, my “head-class” was the exact one doing these shitty shaming things to me. So here’s the thing, my “head-class” liked nicknaming students, and most of these names were very offensive. Like if your Chinese name is “Xiaoming Li” and you have obvious leg hairs, he would name you as “腿毛明”, in English that means “leg hair Ming”, the end of part of this FUNNY nickname derives from part of your name. And he would call your nickname in public with his crooked smile, which he might think he’s funny, but I don’t get the point. To prevent that shitty things occurred to me, I’d never show my legs in public. To be honest, I wasn’t afraid of, but I just didn’t want to be the center of attentions, and luckily I didn’t.

At that moment, even I’d not formed my value view completely, I’d already known that was offensive. And even though the shitty thing didn’t happen to me directly, but it did prevent me from wearing shorts till I was in college, I finally had enough courage and confidence to put my shorts on after the battle of self-minds and self-healing. Yeah, didn’t do any therapy. Thinking back on, the reasons I didn’t stand out to point out the ridiculous and offensive are probably attributable to the environment and my age, the environment way too pressured, me way too young. As for now, who would give a fuck to, and probably give a lesson to.

Sheep

I healed my trauma, but some don’t still now, probably forever. Some of them still obsess with the hairless, joking about hairiness unconsciously, such as suggesting you do a hair removal out of nowhere or using the offensive words “毛裤”, which in English means “hairiness pants”. Okay, till now I still don’t get the point, is that hilarious? How come that can show your humor in that way? It’s mostly like I standing in front of someone, and then he/she tells me that I have one mouth, two eyes, two ears. And what’s the point or what do they expect me to reply? Maybe they would like this one – Okay, you know what? I have no idea about that! You’re a genius. And you should probably tell me MORE about it!

So, here’s anther solution, if you want to fight it back with your manners. Next time you come across such situations, you can use the Chinese word “青龙”, for male, ”白虎”, for female, both which are using for describing people body-hairless or barely having body hair, to fight it back if you don’t wanna give them a serious lesson, showing your wide-knowledges by lots of Chinese don’t even know that. And these words are not that offensive depending on the way the tone you speaking. Yeah, show them real humor and hit them back.

I thought joking their bodies is the privilege of the adolescents, turns out, I was wrong. Some of them still think having more body hair is funny. But that’s okay, even they’re still not grown-ups, the good thing is you’re a grow-up now, who knowing what’s correct and what isn’t. Healing from that trauma makes me care less about shits.

Recommendation: A Love Letter to Summer

I love summer, let me share some my treasure with you. To me, they’re a love letter to summer.

The Movie: Blue Gate Crossing;
The Song: A Little Step, featuring Cheer Chen, album Groupies;

At the end of the article, wish you have a nice experience in summer, and get more skins exposed!

Hello, World!

2 June 2023 at 22:01

Saying “Hello, World!” is kinda conventional in the programming or computer field, it’s probably the first testifying sentence after building something up. But if you went through my website, particularly in the Archive page, you would realize there’s no any “hello world” statement stuff. Yeah, in fact I’d had another website and domain before, due to forgetting the payment of VPS fee, it’d been shut down forcedly without any datas remained. But that’s having been long time ago for me, and I don’t even remember what did I write.

Back to the topic, why didn’t I write such article since I kept running this web for several years till now? Okay, for the record, I’m not a political person, I’m not into any political propaganda, they seems like some kids games to me, boring – some of kids games are quite fun actually, but definitely not these ones, immature, self-deceptive and fooling the masses, and you know what specific area I’m talking about, since you can deduce based on the language I posting before.

Writing in English literally liberates me from endless censorship, which I wish I would not even give a fuck, which I couldn’t. Humorously speaking, Monica has seven zones, but the party, they seemingly have uncountable zones. You can easily hit the right point without even noticing, sometimes it even leads to funny but pathetic situations. As I said before, I can’t address my thoughts too clear because I need to protect myself, so if you’re interested in, plz don’t come to me with that kind of questions, Wikipedia is a better option. So, to recap, to embrace the real Internet and freedom is the one of my motivations to write in English.

Okay, that’s the perspective in the future, how about the perspective in the past?

Have you ever heard of the theory that we generations, Gen Z, are digital natives? That which means we’re given births in a world with Internet already, and didn’t experience, say, primitive life, and we generations probably take it as granted, which is part of the reasons that we’re called digital natives, I guess.

Writing this article or, even say, establishing this website is kind of my way commemorating the old days, which is pretty prevalent back to the very days. When I was in the kindergarten, I started surfing, which in China, that’s not very common owing to the economical conditions.

One thing I remember that I was so into the electric piano at that time, but my sister’s computer took my piano place. Yeah, no longer music stuff. Sometimes, I just wonder that what if it hadn’t token place, things would have been. Seemingly it’s a sad story, a young boy who lost his little dream, but it isn’t fairly enough. After the computer appeared to my life, I was quickly fascinated with it, and since I started playing computer early on, basically I was helping my classmates repair their computers every time the teacher was standing at the classroom podium, giving a lecture.

Due to the my early on abilities of surfing, I explored massive digital entertainment from the Internet, like forums, small websites, personal blogs, etcetera. And I wanna be one of these.

So, what kind of topics will this blog cover? Here’re main categories, humanities and culture, arts, techniques and daydreams. I run a podcast with one of my friends, I do photograph, I used to work in medias industry and I shared some knowledges, and other life stuffs. Wish you enjoy my website.

18 April 2023 at 21:44

“To Cure Sometimes, To Relieve Often, To Comfort Always.”

Love&Peace

Books & Z-Library | The Built-in Application and the ‘Biggest’ Libraries in the World

Maybe you guys deleted the books app once you’ve gotten a new iPhone, especially the function of ‘book store’ doesn’t work in mainland China, so all you can see is a blank in this app, but what if I told you that you have some remedies to read books in this app? Before we get started, let me clarify somethings, first you can easily redownload the BOOK app on the AppStore, then you can’t access the bookstore doesn’t mean you can’t use the whole app, you still can import books that you download from the internet.

Here it is, Z-Library. I kind of like the concept that it expresses, even I know technically it’s illegal and it’s literally a piracy action. But still, it really brings me back to the days when the Internet wasn’t as thriving as it is nowadays. The whole concept is mainly about getting everyone educated without financial problems, since all books are free for everyone who can access the Internet in this website. I’m not gonna say it’s totally a kindness, even it does help people who are in the financial backwardness at least for now, and in my perception, knowledge and education shouldn’t be some ‘‘rich’’ people’s privileges, right? Everyone around the world has the right of getting educated. On the other side, it does infringes some people’ rights. As for these people, they really make a lot of efforts on it, not only these writers but also the publisher. And don’t even mention the costumers who paid the real money for the books. So what would you say, it’s kind of a judgment call, it’s literally up to you.

Then, use or not, make you own decision. Here I’m gonna give you some quick views here, instead of leading you deeply, cause I don’t wanna risk it to teach you how to use it step-by-step, like how you setup the network, how you access the websites and things like that. It can rise the law problems in the mainland China, I’m just gonna say the following website that I give you still works, if you can’t access it, that will be your networking problem, hope you can get the point.

After you register, you can see a website like that, as you can see there’re enormous books, I highly recommend you download the EPUB format if you choose Apple Book app for reading. And it would be best if the books you prefer existed here and was formatted as the natural EPUB format, cause it’ll rise some annoying problems, such as layouts, picture missing, wrong words and so on, if you have to choose the converted the EPUB format to read.

The limitation of downloading is 10 books within per 24hrs for free, it’s enough for most cases, but if you want additional 10 books for free within the 24hrs, you can connect your Z-Lib account to the telegram bot, not only for people who want to up their limitation for free, but also for who are ”lazy” like me. It’s much handier to search a book, download a book in the telegram bot. The setup is not tricky, follow the step-by-step guide the website gave, then all set.

Now, I assume you had the ebooks, open the ebooks by using the Apple Book App, it will automatically import to the app.

Make sure you’ve already turned on the backup settings of Apple Book App, so that you can synchronize all the informations across all the Apple devices you have.

Same on macOS. Then, have a great fun. Btw, the best experience you can get is using the other countries/regions’ Apple ID, but it’s not a good choice for everyone, it will lead other annoying problems such as payment method, reliability(Apple may ban your account) and so on. To cap, it’s up to you.

Dictionary & Spotlight & Lookup

Do you unlock your phone, find an app, open it, wait for it, type the words, wait for it, simply because you just wanna figure out some words’ meanings? Don’t you feel it’s such a hassle? Here’s a better option for you.

Spotlight – The tool that you maybe haven’t fully utilized its potentiality. Pull down on your home screen or lock screen, type random words you’re looking for, even without unlock your iPhone or iPad. Pretty handy, huh? And on macOS, the shortcut of the Spotlight is “COMMAND + SPACE”.

Further, here’re some advance usages on macOS, you can import some third-part resources of dictionaries into the dictionary app. Yeah, here’s an individual app on macOS. But, thanks to Apple’s artificial limitations on iOS system, you can’t add third-part resources to the dictionary, and you can’t open an app like macOS does either.

You can also find some third-part resources on the Internet, but I highly recommend this one, LDOCE, aka, Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English. There’re two main versions on the Internet, LDOCE5 and LDOCE6. So, what’s the difference between them, huh? Let Chat-GPT tell you.

—————————

LDOCE 5 is the 5th edition of the dictionary, which was published in 2009. This edition features over 230,000 words, phrases, and meanings, as well as over 165,000 examples of how to use the words in context. Why Apple Dictionary App? Let me explain it for you.

1. It’s a mono-language/English-English dictionary.
2. Each example sentence has real human pronunciation. (English English, if you prefer American accent, it can’t satisfy you well at least at this part, but we can progress that problem through some alternative ways) But each single word has two pronunciations.
3. Word family, thesaurus, collocation and so on. As the literal meanings of these names, this book not only explain the words you’re looking for, and also list related words, synonyms, phrases, idioms. So not like some dual-languages dictionaries, you’re not gonna only know the meaning of the words in translation, you can master the words with this dictionary’s help.
4. Don’t be panic about mono-language dictionary, the explanations are pretty simple. Using the core vocabulary to explain the words is pretty easy to comprehend, the core vocabulary capacity is about 3000 words, they’re all not sophisticated words, spending 1-3 months would be sufficient. Remember don’t try to memorize all the spellings, thanks to modern tech tools, the writing and spellings are less essential than before, why do I say that? If you don’t believe that theory, just think about yourself, are your Chinese spellings getting worse since you’re no longer a student or the time you finished your ‘高考’? But it doesn’t influence your communication, the grammar checker will help you improve your spellings, I’m not saying spellings is not a big thing, I just think we can spend the very limited time on something more fruitful.
5. No ADs and free!
6. Of curse, there’re plenty and not bad dictionary apps we can choose especially on macOS, why we choose the built-in dictionary app? Yeah, that’s an easy one, simply because it’s built-in. Move your cursor on the word, force touch your touchpad with a single finger, then a window pops up, now you can see the definitions and explanations immediately, pretty handy if you ask.

But due to macOS, we are still limited in few parts.

– One, we can’t click on the button within the popped up lookup window to pronounce the word, which you do can use this function within the Apple dictionary app.
– Two, dark mode, the third-part dictionary sources commonly aren’t flawless, especially dark mode, but we can modify a specific file to work on that, but the pope up window of the lookup function can’t be repaired (but if you find a way, please let me know, thx).
– Three, the resources of dictionaries are very restricted. As apple usual, Apple Dictionary uses the exclusive format – 「.dictionary」, which isn’t a prevalent format over the mainstream. Unfortunately, the plenty great dictionaries are formatted as MDict, Stardict, GoldenDict, and stuff. They’re not available on macOS. You wouldn’t be limited within several selections, unless you converted them to the Apple dictionary format on your own. But trust me, that can’t be easy, even there’re some tutorials and tools you can find out on Internet, you have to fix several files errors before you actually use it within Apple Dictionary app, otherwise the experience would be complete a disaster.
– Dictionary doesn’t support JS(A scripting language). That means you can’t fold and unfold the selection such as thesaurus, word family, examples, phrases and so on. It will dazzle you if you list all possible features simultaneously, cause you can’t hide them. But if you choose hide all of them, you just hide all the merits of this dictionary, seem like we’re in a dilemma, right? Ok, at least we have an alternative way to avoid some of issues, not perfect, but can be better. Remember the fore-showed picture of the dictionary setting on macOS? It gives you some selection, if you uncheck the selection(like Chinese), it won’t show up. But to notice, not every third-part dictionary supports this feature.

– 四、字典不支持JS(一种脚本语言)。

Nevertheless, after the comprehensive consideration, if that’s still accessible for you, the highly recommended dictionary on macOS is this one —— 《朗文当代高级英语辞典》by yuhaowin. You can find out the download link at this website. It’s handy to install and use.

If you’re an Apple guy, I guess you would love the dark mode feature. But as I fore-mentioned, this dictionary doesn’t support dark mode perfectly, here’s the remedy. Find this CSS file at this following path, and add the codes into it at the end.

/Users/your user name/Library/Dictionaries/LDOCE5.dictionary/Contents/Resources/DefaultStyle.css
(E.g, mine is “/Users/ts/Library/Dictionaries/LDOCE5.dictionary/Contents/Resources/DefaultStyle.css”)

@media (prefers-dark-interface)
{
html {
-apple-color-filter: apple-invert-lightness();
}
a {
-apple-color-filter: apple-invert-lightness();
color: -webkit-link;
}
img {
filter: invert(0);
}
}

The lookup window still isn’t perfect, but at least it fixes the error within the dictionary app. BTW, I suggest you turn off the Chinese selection since you’re gonna immerse the language environment. I’m not gonna say this’s the best option of dictionary apps on macOS, but it has its own special advantages, so, depending on you.

Without of persistence about built-in apps, there’s several ’‘better‘’ chooses. Here’s a quick peek about it, maybe I’ll give you the tutorial in the next article~

Spelling and Grammar Checker

Whatever you name them, this feature has already been in you devices, this is a great feature, relief you from endless self-doubt of spelling, and that’s the reason I recommend you don’t have to memorize the spelling, the pronunciation and the phrases and example sentences are much more essential.

I mean how many times you actually write English words in the real life besides you’re a student nowadays? And how difficult these words can be? Once you‘ve remembered the pronunciation, it will pop up several possible words after you typed several first letters or you just spelled the several words in a wrong way, but it will correct it automatically after you tapped on the space key on keyboard. This scenario is similar to typing in Chinese, like we ZheJiang Province People don’t usually distinct ‘’前后鼻音’’ like the phonetic symbols in English, /n/ and /ŋ/. But it doesn’t bother me, since I can use ‘模糊音’(Fuzzy Pinyin) function in input, and it doesn’t influence my daily communication.

I watched lot of YouTube recently, these people who learnt English well on their own lighted me, they didn’t spend much time on memorizing spellings either. I mean really, why should I spend lot of time on these? The modern technology is pretty advance, and I’m a tech guy, it’s just not worth.

Podcast & RSS Subscribe

How many apple built-in apps haven’t been discovered? This must be one of them. I was a Podcast fan when I was a sophomore, it’s a stressless way whether you’re gonna improve your English listening, you’re on your way home, or you wanna some gossips… There’re alway some suitable shows for you.

Because of some reasons, your chooses are limited, here’s the website can help you find out the much more spectacular shows in the cyberspace.

https://getpodcast.xyz

Explaining what RSS is cant’t be possible within several words, but I can tell you RSS is more than podcast subscriptions, and also instagram, twitter, personal blogs, Weibo, and so on… To discover its potential if you want to know more.

Accessibility / Spoken Content

Now, the final part of this article, Accessibility. As its name shows, accessibility is used to help disable persons, btw, Apple’s accessibility is industry-leading, Apple really makes a lot of efforts with it. But for us English learners, it can be more than the ‘accessibility’.

First, you can go to ‘Setting – Accessibility – Speak Selection’ to turn on this function on iOS devices. As for macOS, ‘Setting – Speak Content’. And make sure that you turned on “Highlight Content” feature, so that you can monitor which one sentence and word is currently being spoken.

Then, you can choose the voice that is used, in my personal experience, Siri’s voice sounds pretty good. Thanks to the AI thriving, Siri’s voice now is really natural and sometimes you even can hear the tone and the gap between words and words when Siri speaks. But due to limited AI computation of Intel processor, it sounds less natural and human-like on Intel Mac, but since new product lines all switch to the Apple Silicon(Apple’s own Processor), the structure architecture is basically same to the A series Chips, the Siri’s Speaking should be same as iOS devices, unfortunately I don’t have the new Mac, I can’t help you experience it, I just hope my thoughts are right.

The usage is pretty easy, on iOS, long-press the words or sentences you want to hear, and press the speak button, the method just like I fore-mentioned lookup feature. And things are little different on macOS, it supports shortcuts, as the following picture I show you, the default shortcut is “Option+Esc”.

Breaking Down the Network’s Terminologies

10 March 2023 at 18:44

Recommendations of Materials

• Always Wikipedia !!! (But to be honest it’s not really friendly to very first)

• YouTube Channel named ‘PowerCert Animated Videos’ (Highly Recommended, have no stress to learn, and their animations are pretty naughty sometimes)

Describes | For the Record

I didn’t prioritize the accuracy of descriptions and depth of contents when I’m writing, the aim of this assay is having a quick glance at these sophisticated terminologies, letting you comprehend how them work matters. So if you wanna delve into them, go to the Wikipedia ,Google ,YouTube, some personal blogs and stuffs, they’re better than mine in that aspects.

Well, as you can see, I’m not a professional ITer, I learnt it just for fun and curiosity. It may have some subtle flaws in this article, and I wrote this essay mainly because I’m on the way of learning English, so tell me what exactly the issues are, I’d love to and be really thankful to get improved it.

Now, enjoy the article.

Opening

You may frequently heard about following terminologies in very daily Internet routines, some like public IP address, private IP address, Domain, IPv4, IPv6, port, etc. They seemly are too abstract to be understood for beginners. So let me break them down in a less painful way to you, soon you’ll comprehend them as you perceive the realistic world.

Perceive Internet as the mail system

The operation behind the Internet is more like the network of the mail system, have you ever wondered how other’s messages can precisely and accurately convey to you phone rather than the other random guys? Well, just as the real world does, your home locates on a specific address with name of country, province, district, street, unit, house number and stuffs, the Internet network does have things like that. So further, you literally can perceive the terminologies as indicators that what exactly roles they played in the part of realistic world’s mail system, things may get some inappreciable differences between the real world and the theoretical cyberspace as you delve further in, but it doesn’t hinder your comprehension, you’ll find the slight discrepancies and comprehend them better ultimately.

For easier understanding, I’ll name another subtitle each part of them, so you can picture it before you get started.

IP Address | Your House Number

If you wanna mail your friend a package, you have to give the mailman a location that where you’re and where your friend is. The location seem like ‘xxx country, xxx province, xxx district, xxx street, xxx unit, xxx number’, and the most common location in cyberspace is like ‘192.168.1.1’, the series that made of “random” numbers and punctuation marks(sometimes even included letters, but we’ll hit that later, here’s a quick look, ‘2001:db8:3333:4444:5555:6666:7777:8888’) is what we called – IP Address. By the way, the maximum IP address is ‘255.255.255.255’ and the minimum is ‘0.0.0.0’.

You have to give the computer something like that so that they can deliver your package correctly. And the address should be unique in the same network, otherwise delivery guy would get confused, cause there were two different places and both called ‘center park’.

Further, IP address could separate into several range parts, each parts have their own unique features, like 192.168.1.1 used for LAN, 8.8.8.8 used for WAN(not fully correct, but good to understand). But that’s too deep, maybe we’ll talk about it later.

WAN(Wide Area Network) / LAN(Local Area Network) |Public Mail System & Internal Mail System

As their names, the main difference between them is in the area part. If I said the ‘mailman’ could reach every devices in the whole mail system, then you could roughly consider it as in the WAN, but if the ‘mailman’ could only reach the very limited and certain range of devices, then they are maybe in the LAN.

Basically, you can directly touch every single networking device around the world in the WAN system. As for LAN, you can only touch your home’s devices when you connected your house’s Wi-Fi.

Approximately, WAN is kind of equals the public networking, for LAN and subnet, they’re basically the same thing. They do have subtle discrepancies, but you don’t have to recognize them.

Public IP Address | Like Your House Number that Everyone Can Reach It

Like fore mentioned, you have to give the mailman your house number before mailing your package, the public IP address is the specific location address in the WAN.

For instance, 8.8.8.8 is a public IP address, everyone can touch it.

Private IP Address | Like Your House Number but Not Everyone Can Reach It

Only your local mailman can find the location, others cannot, that location in the cyberspace is called private IP address.

E.g, 192.168.1.1, the most common address, you could reach it only if you are in this subnet. Aha, a new terminology, subnet, seems like a little confusing, right? Let’s just say, you could talk directly to your living room’s computer with your phone when they both connected to the Wi-Fi, but some random guys from street couldn’t, right? That’s because they’re not connected to your home Wi-Fi, they’re not in your subnets. For cases of nearly 99 percents, everyone who connected to the subnetwork would be allotted a least one private IP address.

IPv4 & IPv6 | Two Methods of Naming Your House Location

Have you ever thought about why there’s private IP address exists since with the public IP address you could reach every networking devices around the world? The major reason is that the people who construct the antecedent of the Internet hadn’t and couldn’t anticipate the thrivings of nowadays cyberspace, everyone has more than one device that needed to connect to Internet, the amount of networks’ addresses is totally not enough, and the public IP pool have already drained, private IP address or we called subnet is one of solutions for figuring this out. It likes a tree’s branches, since there can only be existed one tree in a certain place, but it does can exist lots of branches and leaves. One major branch can contain many minor branches, and the minor branch can contain plenty of leaves. So, in this case, the tree presents Public IP address, the branches whatever the major or minor present the subnets, and the leaves present users’ devices, and each leaves would get a private IP address. That said one subnet can contain another or several subnets, so that the problem solved.

But that’s not a perfection. It causes other problems, like performance issues, reaching issues and so on. Here’s another solution, IPv6. But hold that thought, we haven’t talked about IPv4, how come we get into the IPv6 part? Yeah, cause IPv4 is prevailing, what we just said are all based on IPv4. Technically, v4 and v6 are same things. Let’s check out their full names, then you’ll see.

IPv4 – Internet Protocol version 4, IPv6 – Internet Protocol version 6.

It’s clear enough, they’re just the different methods of naming your house number. You can easily recognize which method or protocol they used. It only consists of some numbers and dots, it’s IPv4. And it consists of some numbers letters and colons, it’s IPv6. Maybe you’re curious about is there has v1 or v5? The answer is yes, theoretically they’re existence, but we don’t use them in daily life.

The purpose of IPv6 is more radical and advance, the union which developed it claims that each grain of sand around the world can be allotted one public IP address, that’s nuts. But still, it’s not flawless. Cause it literally reforms the whole cyberspace, not only cardinal networking facilities needed to be changed, but also lots of terminal devices, and so on. You couldn’t cut all the old devices off, the whole transition costs a lot. But again, the ultimate achievement of IPv6 is ideal, there’re no more subnet things, you can directly access the servers from the other side of the earth.

In fact, the world is on the way of transformation process for a longtime. But even now, we’re still mainly under the IPv4’s ruling.

Domain | Friendly Name of IP Address

You don’t wanna memorize a series made of some random numbers or even letters and punctuation marks just for accessing some personal blogs or company’s websites, that’s insane and unwise. So here is, the Domain, just type some meaningful words into the browser, boom, you reach your goal. But the computers won’t recognize these words as reachable addresses like Google.com, the computer only can read things like 192.168.0.1 or 2001:db8:3333:4444:5555:6666:7777:8888.

But why computers can understand what you just typed? Yeah, that’s simply because some ‘kind person’ translated these letters into computer-understandable language for you behind the screen. As for ‘this generous guy’, we’ll mention it later.

The thing you should know is that things like ‘Google.com’ or ‘iCloud.com’ is what we called DOMAIN.

好不容易放开了,又只关心死了多少人和死亡数据虚假(which I believe that again)。

Save yourself from the bad mood

1 December 2022 at 15:52

Big things happened recently, and even now it’s still going on. I believe that just like me, lot of people struggled of their bad mood, especially we can almost change nothing at the end, it’s extremely frustrating. Feeling raging, panic, anxious or pain, but that’s ok. You don’t have to consistently blame yourself that you stuck in a bad mood. Feelings are what make you a human.

And in these days, I have paid attention to the development of these things, I also passed wakeful nights. I clearly know I can not be like this, I ruined my life day by day, just like I posted on my social media, ‘’I know it’s emotional, but I am still crying’’. Not only me, but also my friends cause the big things are going on.

Then one idea popped into my head, since I can deal with my emotion pretty good(in my personal view, and of course it’s need time), maybe I can write something to save ones from their bad moods, and at meantime practicing my English for preparing my future. And it can be a new categories in my blog, writing article in totally English.

Do some aerobic exercise

It’s not only good for your physical health, but also your mental health. In other words, you can’t separate these two things.

In my situations, I feel really chilled out that I run and playing music simultaneously, I like the feeling that the rhythm lingers in my ears.

I use Apple Music, I like its design, such gorgeous and it has a clean interface. I put my phone on the treadmill so that I can focus the album cover, lyrics, rhythm and breath at one time without any distinctions. And that’s why I prefer run in treadmill rather than outdoor.

Once you starting focusing something else, you can easily free from tortures of these bad emotion.

Try to do mindfulness training

Mindfulness activities can be really easy to do, taking a deep breath is sort of one kind of mindfulness trainings. I’m a Apple Watch guy, the watchOS contains an application called mindfulness, there are two ways of training inside, one is ‘breathing’, and the other one is ‘meditation’.

I do ‘breathing’ mostly, cause it’s such easy to do. There’s a tip in the description, and here you are.

‘’Breathe in and out, feeling the air of cold and the warm, focusing more on yourself. Touch your chest and feeling the bond of you and your heart deeply. Caressing your abdomen and calm down while breathing. ’’

Always see bright side of things

It’s dark time now, but even this, you need to realize that these big things are going like never before in a long time. Whatever the results, people are different from decades ago. I can’t say too much about this, it’s way to sensitive. But the only thing I must to say, ‘’Always see bright side of things’’.

Set a deadline for yourself

Everyone has the right of having a bad mood, if anyone said ‘’you’re weak’’, ‘’it’s not big deal, you made a mountain out of a molehill’’ or something else. I’m just gonna tell you they are so cruel that they maybe lost their humanity.

In my view, it’s good having the bad mood, but I suggest setting a ‘mood deadline’ for yourself. That means, once it’s time, you should stop hurting yourself by these emotion, and what the ‘Deadtime’ exactly it is, I trust you can make your own right decision for yourself.

Stay raging and be proud of yourself

‘’Stay Raging’’, it’s seemly opposite to the topic of this article, but again, feeling raging is why you’re a human, I believe after years, you will be thankful that what you sensed today, you gonna be proud of it just like we do.

At the end, maybe one of us can do nothing to the society, and even all of us can’t make any different to society in a short time. But be water, my friends. One day we’ll change the world. Before that take care.

8 September 2022 at 16:58

6 September 2022 at 22:37

截止至今,移动(似乎)仍不支持独立eSIM(eSIM分两种 后面解释)。

Step

  • Prepare the ingredients
    • Prepare all the ingredients at one time.
    • The temperature of the butter should be about 20 degrees Celsius, the temperature of the room should be about 25 degrees Celsius, so that you can beat butter. If you don’t want to wait too long, you do can heat and melt butter by using the micro-wave oven, but remember don’t make it too hot, because the egg liquid will be denatured when you mixing the hot butter liquid and the egg liquid. In my recommendation, the butter liquid is best to be a little warm, and the egg was just taking out from the refrigerator or it’s the winter now.
  • Beating the mixture of egg and butter
    • Mixing the egg liquid and butter liquid, then beating the mixture until it becomes fluffy, don’t forget add the granulated sugar in it three times when you beating the mixture. Because the egg liquid can cool the butter liquid down, you can easily beating the mixture if you following my recommendation.
  • Mixing
    • Sieving the low-gluten flour and almond powder in the mixture.
    • Add in the rest of ingredients that you prepared before.
    • Mixing up by using scraper.
    • Making the mixture becomes a cuboid (the size depend on what you like, about 2.5x4cm in my recommendation) with your hands above the cake paper.
    • Sealing the mixture cuboid with cake paper, then refrigerate it till it becomes sturdy.
  • Baking
    • Cut the cuboid into a slice (about 0.8cm). Preheating the oven to 180 degrees Celsius when you’re cutting.
    • Baking for 15 to 20 minutes.
