Mr. Mamdani intends to appear at explicitly Jewish spaces during the High Holy Days, seeking to bridge a divide with some Jewish voters as he runs for mayor.
“It is not surprising that the younger generations are pushing back on what they might have perceived as a monolithic ideal about the state of Israel,” Rabbi Elan Babchuck said.
