Palestinians prayed near the ruins of Al-Huda Mosque in Khan Younis, in southern Gaza, on Wednesday, the first day of Eid al-Adha. Israel bombed the mosque early in the war in Gaza.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israeli ground forces had crossed Lebanon’s Litani River, as military officials from the two countries were set to meet for U.S.-brokered talks.
U.S. and Iranian officials say they are closing in on the terms of a preliminary agreement. Yet sticking points, particularly over the Strait of Hormuz, remain.
The president said more countries should be required to recognize Israel as part of a deal to end the war with Iran. Analysts say the chances of that happening are close to zero.
